Fan art Friday!

New idea! Fan art Friday. On Fridays I will post a fan art painting that I make. I will need your help though. Message me here or Facebook or anywhere with ideas for what painting I should make. If I choose your idea you can have the painting for free.

Here is this week’s painting.

This week the first person willing to message me their address can get this 8.5″ x 12″ painting of Lieutenant Commander Data. Message me. United States only for now.

Thanks for your help in deciding what to paint. The winner of my poll was robot head. Click on the picture to see my online store.

Hat’s Games hosted the Annual Free Role Playing Game Day today. They greeted all with a nice bag of Swag as they entered the doors. My bag had this die in it.

The die is a commemorative six-sided die that had this logo where the one pip would normally go. The bag also had some cards to some, game some cards to another game and two rpg adventures. Burgers were available, the game designer John Wick was there and brought a crock pot full of refried beans as well as his effervescent personality.

At the event several people ran their favorite role playing games and guests were welcome to join.

One of the adventures in the bag was Dungeons and Dragons Domain of Dread: Histaven. I played this adventure first hand and felt it had some good encounters but I had to leave before we finished it.

When I got home I read the adventure and felt it had a great story once I found out what was really going on between the villains of the adventure and the horrifying secrets of domains of dread.

There is a great description of the domain and the town of Histaven that is very simple and could be run as a one-shot but also with plenty of room and a obscure enough win condition that it could be turned into a mini campaign with the main villain reoccurring in a kind of Groundhog Day kind of way.

The other adventure was an introductory adventure for Black Crusade rpg called Broken Chains. I haven’t read, read it yet but it comes with 4 pre-generated characters and and a brief description of the rules so you can play without needing Black Crusade’s rulebook and can just jump right in.

This will be excellent because I like to try different games and Broken Chains will be a great thing to play at the break point in my Dungeons and Dragons story arcs.

In summary Free Role Playing Game day is lots of fun with friends and a great way for the gaming industry to turn us on to new things.

This is a handmade card for Giovanni’s 4th birthday. It took about 3 hours to make. If I had used Photoshop it would have been 10 minutes.

I am not selling these so please don’t sue me Marvel.

For your pleasure here is the first Metabolism-Man comic in 7 years. It’s not perfect but it’s a good habit as an artist to produce regularly and it’s fun. There will be more issues to follow as well as reissues of Classic Metabolism-Man. Enjoy.

Where are these people? I don’t know looks like a restaurant I used to work at that I really would prefer not to mention. That guy named Matt looks kind of how I looked when I worked there.

That guy calling the police is on a mobile phone that looks like a flip phone. This should tell you how long ago I started drawing this particular issue. You can’t really tell but he is under a table or behind a table or something I don’t really remember.

This next part is the first appearance of Metabolism-Man in over 7 years of real time but could be just as long comic time too. If you are wondering what is the deal with the dialog that is me trying to be funny.

That “Kaboom!” is the bathroom exploding. That donut thing is a toilet seat. You will notice that Metabolism-Man accuses Mr. Boom Boom of monologueing. He isn’t really monologueing is he?

I’m not sure to admit my own stupidity as a writer or just say that Metabolism-Man is stupid. Whatevs.

So M-Man is supposed to be holding up some drawings he made in panels 3 and 4. You might be saying to yourself “I didn’t see him make any drawings.” Well M-Man has super speed and drew those so fast that you missed it.

Who is Mr. Mayor? He is a character from the old M-Man comics. You will learn more of him soon.

There you have the new Metabolism-Man. Since it is so easy and convenient to make these blog style you may see more of the blue bolt around unless you start an email campaign begging me to quit. btw Metabolism-Man wears a blue costume.

Here is the Metabolism-Man #0 that I made when we lived in New Jersey. This one has what I feel is the best art and story telling so I decided it would be a good one for y’all. Enjoy!

Inspirations: Larry Elmore

Remember this picture? If you played Dungeons and Dragons in the 80’s

you probably do. When I saw this I said to myself “One day I will be a fantasy artist, oh yes.”

I would see a ton of Larry’s art over the years, mostly it was this guy fighting dragons.

You can see more of his awesome art here

Did you see he was selling paintings for like $5000? Wowie Zowie I want some of that!

I always thought that would be a fun job. Make money painting B.A. stuff like this. Going to conventions as a guest of honor.

So this will be one of my goals to be accomplished within the next 5 years: Have some of my art published in a role playing game. DnD would be preferred but any RPG company will do. If the 5 year deadline is coming and my art has yet to be published in any RPG material I suppose I will just have to create my own adventure or something and use my own art.
